About New Vision
New Vision, the Yakima County Development Association (YCDA) is a public-private non-profit corporation created to enhance the income and employment stability of the local economy. The Association encourages business investment that will create jobs and expand the local tax base.
The Yakima County Development Association began operations in 1985. Its Board of Directors reflects the composite leadership – both public and private – of the largest, most vibrant urban area in Central Washington. The board is the backbone of the association, and its most important asset. The Yakima County Development Association is a coalition of business, government, labor, and education leaders working to build a solid economic foundation for the future of Yakima County.
The Yakima County Development Association is a one-stop source for all the information and assistance that is available to local businesses from a network of government agencies, chambers of commerce, colleges and universities, and other important non-profit service providers. The association’s professional staff provides quick confidential assistance for business.
Generating Jobs
To generate jobs, the Yakima County Development Association is involved in activities that will:
- Attract out-of-county corporations and investors to Yakima County to expand and diversify our economy here;
- Assist Yakima County manufacturers with their expansion plans;
- Support the creation of new business in Yakima County;
- Foster economic linkages between businesses within the county and Washington state;
- Stimulate public investment that will benefit the local economy;
- Enhance Yakima County’s reputation as an excellent place to do business;
- Improve our business climate assets.
Business Assistance
Our office is also committed to help local manufacturers thrive and expand. Additionally New Vision works with other local partners to support promising ventures and entrepreneurs. Contact our office to get all the assistance and information that’s available on:
- Government-backed loans;
- Industrial revenue bonds;
- Export assistance;
- Lean manufacturing and related company improvement resources;
- Tax credits and incentives;
- Job skills training and education;
- Permitting and licensing; and
- Sources of goods/services for manufacturing.

Marketing Yakima County
The Yakima County Development Association also has primary responsibility for marketing our region to the outside world. It helps companies and investors from other counties, state, and countries understand the opportunities and costs of doing business here.
New Vision coordinates and professionalizes all the points of contact a potential outside investor may have with our local market. Our close working relationships with chambers of commerce, cities, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders assists companies in receiving help with everything from siting to financing.
The marketing and development arm of the Yakima County Development Association is a resource for:
- Identifying and calculating potential operating costs – energy, taxes, labor, etc. for the Yakima County area;
- Securing tax credits and deferrals;
- Obtaining special assistance for foreign investors in permitting, including visas, and permanent resident petitions;
- Making introductions to local corporate and government decision makers;
- Learning general information, specifications, and data on topics ranging from demographics and economy to resources and livability.
Providing Leadership on Community Issues Affecting the Regional Economy
New Vision works to advance public policies and community initiatives that support local economic diversification. Our office has advanced state legislation, worked with federal agencies, and organized local stakeholders around opportunities or challenges facing our local economy. Some of our work involves:
- helping local employers recruit technical and professional employees to the region. Our talent attraction effort is anchored by our new websites, www.liveyakimavalley.com and www.workyakimavalley.com. We also train ambassadors to work with new residents and organize receptions to introduce new residents to local leaders.
- administering the Yakima County SIED fund that helps fund public utility improvements that support expanding companies and pave the way for new business facilities;
- supporting redevelopment of the former oise Cascade mill site as well as other industrial/commercial sites in Yakima County
