Sun-Rype Expansion Good for the Yakima Valley

October 08, 2010

Our region got a shot in the arm recently when British Columbia-based Sun-Rype acquired the Yakama Juice facility in Selah.  The company plans to retain nearly 90 jobs at the local plant and we are excited about the company's plans for the facility.  In an interview with the Yakima Herald Republic last week Sun-Rype president Dave McAnerney outlined what drove his company to expand to our region: "Really we see the Selah plant fueling our western growth in Canada.  We are looking forward to developing new products in the Selah plant."

The Yakama Juice acquisition did not come together quickly.  In fact our office worked quietly with Sun-Rype for over a year as it evaluated its expansion options in the United States.  The company zeroed in on our region because it wanted to tap into an abundant high quality fruit supply.  Purchasing the Yakama Juice plant also allows the company to diversify the pack types and products they can provide to their customers.

Sun-Rype is a well established company in the juice industry and we feel confident that they can sustain the Selah operation well into the future.  Please help us welcome Sun-Rype to our Valley - we think they are going to be a great new corporate citizen within our region.
