Broadhead and McDowell to Receive Wagner Service Award

March 02, 2015

We are pleased to announce that Mike Broadhead and Brad McDowell will be recognized at our annual meeting on March 25th.  The two gentlemen will receive New Vision's Mel Wagner Distinguished Service Award.  Formerly titled our Board Emeritus award, the New Vision Board recently is changing the award's name to recognize the association's long time leader Mel Wagner.

alt textMike Broadhead served on the New Vision Board for 14 years.  He was chairman of the Board in 2004 and more recently led our seventh fundraising campaign.  Mike also actively participated in various New Vision committees.  Broadhead was an instrumental part of shaping New Vision's Enterprise Challenge business plan contest.  He was a champion for entrepreneurs and local business.  Mike recently retired from a long successful career at Central Valley Bank.

alt textBrad McDowell joined the New Vision Board more recently in 2009.  He brought enormous passion to our group and we owe Brad a debt of gratitude for guiding us through our five-year planning process a couple years ago.  McDowell served as our Board Chair in 2013 and helped set the stage for our successful recent fundraiser.  Brad's interest in building a great organizational culture had a positive impact on the entire New Vision team.  We all appreciated his ability to bring us together and focus our energies on our organization and community's future.

It is appropriate and exciting that New Vision also announces a change in the title of our honorary award.  Our association is naming our top award after longtime community leader Mel Wagner.  He helped start New Vision 30 years ago and has played an instrumental role over time helping our association succeed.  Wagner chaired the New Vision Board in 1999 and subsequently led our last two fundraising campaigns in 2008 and 2013. A tireless advocate for economic growth, New Vision has benefited tremendously from Wagner's time and passion for community success.
