The President’s Pen is a weekly blog written by Jonathan Smith, New Vision’s President and CEO about local economic development projects and initiatives. It also covers economic trends, workforce issues, business climate policies, and manufacturing news.
Greg Albrecht of M&A Executive Search, the firm hired by New Vision to recruit candidates to fill the open President/CEO position with our organization, has completed the YCDA Board of Directors cultural survey assessment. The survey will assist the search committee in identifying key attributes to ensure the next President/CEO of New Vision is aligned with our core values and mission. “It is important we find a good fit,’ said Albrecht, “and the Board has identified the knowledge and skills required for a candidate to succeed in the position and continue to enhance economic development in Yakima County”
According to the survey results the ideal candidate must be able to engage with the community as well as the organization, empower and lead staff, and be driven and results oriented. “It’s a unique, multifaceted skill set,” he said. “The candidate must embody these traits as well as be entrepreneurial, able to engage with both the public and private sectors, and effectively manage a broad scope of programs and initiatives.”
M&A Executive Search had previously identified a lengthy list of applicants and has since engaged in discussions with roughly 60 prospects from across the Northwest about the opportunity. They have recently narrowed the field to 20-30 for in-depth interviews. The firm will complete the process soon, providing the organization a final slate of 3-5 highly qualified candidates. The final candidates are scheduled for interviews at New Vision the week of September 8th.
“The process is moving along nicely and we are pleased with the search firm’s progress,” said Mike Broadhead, Interim Director for New Vision. “Our plan was to have the position filled with a highly skilled candidate who shares our mission and ideals by November 1st, and we are right on track.”
