Manufacturers Can Benefit From Specialized Online Training for Employees

June 11, 2015

Here is a great resource for companies that want to invest in their employees while improving productivity at their facilities. Manufacturers in Yakima County can register up to five of their employees for free online college courses. Make it in Washington Scholarships provide companies a great way to build manufacturing, logistics and management leadership skills. Course offerings include:

  • advanced manufacturing;
  • quality/lean and supply chain management;
  • global sourcing and distribution; and
  • contract and project management.

Highline and Shoreline Community Colleges and Washington State University’s (WSU) Global Initiative Program are offering these specialized courses. Highline specializes in Global Trade & Logistics while Shoreline focuses on purchasing and supply chain management. WSU offers both undergraduate and graduate curriculum in Engineering and Technology Management (ETM). The links provided above will display the detailed course offerings for each school.

Scholarships are available for Fall classes. Local manufacturers can contact Mike Brennan at (360) 709-4616 to learn more about this workforce training initiative and other resources that support customized or general workforce training.
