Perry Technical Institute just put the finishing touches on a $6 million dollar renovation project recently which will enhance two of the school’s training programs. With the remodeling, students in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Program will be trained on updated equipment donated by manufacturers. The Visual Communication and Graphic Technology Department also benefits from new amenities, such as a large computer lab, a sign shop studio, a photo studio, and a state-of-the-art media room.

The two-year project, funded in part with private donations, is another example of the institute’s commitment to serve the needs of local industry. According to Tammy Everts, business development director for Yakima County Development Association, “Perry Technical Institute works very closely with our local employers and manufacturers in specialized workforce training and designs their programs to suit the needs of our region. This renovation with allow the institute to continue expanding programs and providing high-tech training.”

Founded in 1939 and the first private technical school in Washington State to be accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology, today Perry Technical Institute now serves roughly 560 students in 10 certified programs and boasts an 88 percent job placement rate at graduation.
