New Tieton Cidery Currently In Production
The Yakima Valley has nearly a 150 year tradition for producing much of the world’s fruit and produce. In the past three decades local entrepreneurs have firmly established Yakima Valley wines among some of the world’s best and second in the nation for total production. Now a third generation orchardist has joined forces with a local fruit broker to turn apples into hard cider.
Orchardists, Craig and Sharon Campbell, partnered with cider maker Cindy Richter and her husband, Fred Kasack, to establish Tieton Cider Works. The owners have been researching and forming their company for two years with the first bottles expected to be available for public sale February 2010. They’ve already needed to expand their operations and are planning to produce 100 cases per day within the next few years. Three variations will be available – dry, semi-dry, and a cherry-apple blend with alcohol content around six percent by volume.
We were very pleased to learn of Tieton Cider Work’s products and production plans.” said Tammy Everts, New Vision’s Entrepreneur Network Director. “The Yakima Valley produces some of the world’s best wines and, more recently, began producing specialty beers since our region grows much of the world’s hops. So hard cider is a perfect fit for the region and complements the beer and wine industries nicely.” For more information on Tieton Cider Works visit
