Sunnyside Winery Poised To Expand in 2010

November 13, 2009 by Dave McFadden

Cream Winery of Sunnyside, Washington is planning to have a breakout year in 2010. According to General Manager Jim Warren, the company has been in the region for three years and more recently it located operations in the former Carnation dairy product plant (hence the name Cream Winery)

The company plans to modernize and expand the plant within the next few months. Cream has already started demolishing outdated and unsuitable buildings on the site to make way for new construction. The company will add two new buildings for winemaking and storage. As part of the construction, Cream plans to preserve the facility’s historical features by keeping the original brick work on the front of the building and moving the old Carnation Tower closer to the street. The winery currently employs 15 and will likely add another 15 new employees when the project is completed.

“Cream Winery’s expansion is a great new success story unfolding in our Valley,” says Lisa Smith, business development director for Yakima County Development Association. “The winery is a great new addition to our region. The owners have a successful track record and we’re excited to see them investing in and modernizing a historic facility in Sunnyside.”
