Yakima Ranks #4 Nationally for Best Place to Begin New Career
June 19, 2009 by Dave McFadden
Yakima was selected as one of the best places in the county to get a fresh start in the country’s current economy. A recent study by Business Week magazine places Yakima as the nation’s fourth best place to begin a new career. The report cites job growth, a strong agricultural economy (ranked 12th in the nation), and affordable homes in reaching its conclusions.
Lisa Smith, who staffs the Yakima County Development Association’s efforts to attract professional and technical talent to the region, said the report confirms the organization’s beliefs about Yakima’s future. “We have a relatively strong economic pulse despite these tough times relative to other regions of the country. If you look at our Valley we are an affordable place to live, our job outlook is positive, and we have good entrepreneurial opportunities.”
